I went to Colorado a couple weeks ago. It was the day after I got dumped so I was thinking of not even going….who wants to hang out with a debbie downer? no one. I don’t even want to hang out with myself when i’m depressed. (i’m using depressed very loosely–for drama and the whatnots.) It’s not all bad! There are definitely some positives to getting dumped. 1. loosing a few lbs! huh??! yeah! 2. someone bought me a beer the other day and called it a heartbreak beer. That’s nice! — but but but the trip turned out really good. When I look back I don’t think I could live without hearing Kris’s super funny story about getting beat up–it was like hearing a comedy bit. I maybe peed a little. It’s one of those stories where I think about it when i’m in a grocery line and I giggle a little.
Theresa, baby Zoe, and I went to the lovely Boulder, CO to visit her gal pal Jessica. I had this idea I was pretty good pals with Jessica as well….except I repeatedly got introduced as, “this is my best friend and her sister” I was the sister. What are ya gonna do…it’s fine. I can be the sister. I don’t even think that baby got introduced-so there’s that! We went on nature hikes and ate delicious food-weirdly a lot of kale-and talked to this baby, looked at some art, & went on a bike ride. Theresa strapped that baby on her chest and rode a bike a few miles to the brewery! It was amazing. She’s a new mom following all the baby rules and then she goes and does something like this. I call it a WILDCARD moment. My favorites.
I also learned about avocado toast. it’s mostly just avocado on toast. Very delicious. do this.
this is a real wolf. maybe or maybe not.
I just love love love an outdoor meal on a long table! It’s just so romantic. And I’ve had a love for the fuzzy cows since I saw them in Scotland. I think in the Highland region–which is what these cows are called! Well, how about that. That makes so much sense. This dinner happened a couple Sundays ago-It was a perfect day at the Prairie Fountain Farm. The fancy L’etoile restaurant gets all their beef from this farm! I learned this because Tory Miller was at the farm doing all the cooking-with a team cooks and servers! There was a wagon ride & wine drinking. Unfortunately there wasn’t a cow hugging station. I wish I could live this event twice….once shooting it cause I love photo taking. and another time mostly drinking and maybe slow dancing and really eating the food. I did eat some food-It was pretty kick ass!
I shot this event for Natural Heritage Land Trust. info here! http://www.nhlt.org/

I really love it when Justin & Cynthia get married. This wedding was great & perfect. Lawn games, music, and a DIY bar. I’ve known Cynthia for a couple years and she’s one of the nicest & easy going gals I know. Just goes with it–pleasant & nice. This is exactly how the wedding felt. No big to do’s. She did do a dress change from the wedding to reception-that was her diva moment. HA!
The bands that played at the wedding were delightful. Justin was looking very handsome in his suit. Shane gave a funny speech. The twice baked pototes from the 4&20 were delicious. The IPA a friend made was lovely. All the friends were looking super cute. Best day ever.
J O D I E & L U I S ! ! !
I met Jodie and her lady team at the farmers market on Saturday morning. Jodi decided to get her flowers the morning of her wedding-to me this is very exciting. I’m also going to go with a little risky–but fun! I think that is how Jodie does most of her life. Or at least her wedding. She made a ton of cute cute crafting things and then did some other really spontaneous things. Ok, I don’t really know how spontaneous she is–it could’ve just been that she didn’t tell me. Oh & she has a super organized (and still very nice!) friend Kate. Kate kicked some serious ass and got stuff done!
I think i should bullet point what i think the highlights of the Jodie & Luis wedding were. I don’t know how to make a bullet point really. I will use dashes.
-Jodie & Luis are sooooo in love. They seriously couldn’t quit kissing. I would comment on how on this and Luis would say, “i love this girl!!!” It’s so damn romantic! Luis is fun. I can tell he is always having a good time!
-the ceremony was in their backyard! They had a tree planting ceremony which was so cute and nice way to make a ceremony interactive. Yes! Interactive ceremonies are great! do this brides! also–I think this was another one of the spontaneous events of the day. I secretly believe they got a really good deal on this tree at like hy-vee or costco or something. With the trees came cute gloves!
-Jodie has good style man! you’ll see.
-Jodie’s grandpa. you’ll see.
-I talked a group of people to be background excited for the signing of the wedding papers. I don’t know how much they liked doing it—but they look good!!!
-there was a dog at the wedding! ZUG DOG! Jodie and Luis love dogs! Usually dog people always love dogs don’t they? buuuuut for their table names they used dogs that were currently at the shelter! They took photos and had their graphic designy friend (who also made all the invitations and programs!) make em’ look really pretty. There was also a little story about the dog.
-I loved this wedding. I have been lucky to have been shooting some really great weddings this summer.
-i know i say “cute” too much and use too many exclamation points. i mean every exclamation point and i love cute. oxox
I kind of have the best time in the whole world in Ashland. The northern Wisconsin. It feels good. You should go on vaca there or talk your friends into getting married up there so i can shoot their wedding! I am shooting a wedding in Bayfield area this weekend–at the beach! I went to this Meyers Beach to scope out the scene. I had this lovely drive in the rolling hills and was listing to the Lumineers. Do you notice when you’re doing something really awesome and you have on good music on the adventure is like 73% better!!! This is true. I did this drive and came across Wisconsin’s Northern Most Post Office. So that’s something-right? They also have beers at the store in town and I bought some and drank one at the beach. I should be doing this everyday.
Oh yeah. My sister had a baby. This baby is pretty damn cute huh???
it’s the ZOE ZADIE baby! ohmygod she is the happiest cutest baby ever. She is very happy in the morning and she loves to ride on the dogs back. They have adventures around the house. and man, can she swing. she can swing on that swing all day. that’s why she has that flat spot on the back of her head. Maybe this flat spot is normal. I’m not sure.
So the funnest (most fun-is the proper wording i think–you knew what i meant.) things happen in the northern WI. We go to the black cat coffee shop every most days. I’m a good worker when I’m there-it’s strange that i’m starting to know some of the towns folk. ok, not that strange since they are mostly Theresa & Gary’s friends. Theresa is the sister. Gary is the bro in law. Zoe is the baby. Dutchess is the dog. Gary is the best at going to the coffee shop. I knew he would let me take his photo there–sometimes he can’t be bothered with me & my camera. I get it….sometimes I’m around too much with that thing.
One of my favoritest restaurants is right outside of Washburn. The Good Tyme. I think this is one of those play on words. People love a good play on words. I sometimes do. They have these moscow mules drinks that come in a copper cup. This drink is supposed to come in a copper cup-it makes it legit! Does anyone know where I can get this drink + the cup in Madison? it’s so fun! I think about this drink a lot. We went there with some of Theresa’s classy friends. I like them.
So I guess this is mostly what I do up here: drink coffee, baby hang outs, eat food, & go on dog walks. It’s perfect & lovely.
-IN CONCLUSION: GET MARRIED IN THE BAYFIELD AREA. I WANT TO SHOOT YOUR WEDDING UP THERE!–

Ok, I have some really good plans for my wedding. I thought I had everything all worked out and then I went to Ryan & Krista’s wedding on top of the Children’s Museum and everything has changed. It was amazing! The coolest location/space ever! trees on a rooftop! I love it! There is a little field of basil planted up there. I may have left with a pocket full of basil. i’m kidding.
I’d never been to the Children”s museum before and damn girl!!! that place if fuuuunnn!!! They do this fun event for adults once every two months where they open up the museum in the evening for adults and & can get beers and wine and play with all the kid stuff! I’m going to sures! OH, it’s called Adult Swim. Google it. I’ll see you there.
The rooftop where the wedding/reception took place was already perfect- Krista & Ryan added some nice little touches as well! I love a really pretty wedding-like the cute stuff they add- and I also love a low key wedding. This wedding was both. It was one of the smallest weddings I’ve shot which made it feel really intimate. It also made me feel a little like the paparazzi-I don’t feel like I stalked people too much! That was good. The beautiful food was made by the hip Underground kitchen dudes.
I’ve known Ryan & Krista for awhile–I mostly see them at biking & drinking events. If there is an event that involves drinking + biking there is a 94% chance I will see them. They are a great couple and think they compliment each other really well. I wonder if they will think it’s weird I’m writing that. I’m pretty sure i’m right though.
Oh man, did Krista wear the cutest little polka dotted dress or what?? yes she did. & Ryan is looking very handsome in his vest. more dudes should wear cute vests. I call.
Congratulations guys! kick some ass being married. ox sv
Jodie and Luis have the best ideas ever! ok, I think it might be Jodie with the ideas but I’m pretty sure Luis is backing her up 100%! These guys are getting married this Saturday! It’s gonna be good-I’m super excited for all of their kick ass decorations! There’s gonna be banners and flags & barn doors! i’m not positive about this but i’m pretty sure!
For the engagement session we went all over the town! Ice skating, Mother Fool’s Coffee shop, the record store-MadCity Music, & then a snuck in a couple at Sardine. I love an adventure and these guys were up for it! The other most romantic thing happened during the engagement shoot….I think Jodie was very concerned with her eye or there was a giant bug in her eye (details–this shoot was when there was still ice!) and Luis so nicely was doing some eye examining and it was a cute little moment to see.
